Web Site Road Map
Welcome to the World-Wide Web Site of the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri.
We invite you to explore our redesigned home on the World-Wide Web. This is the culmination of six months of dreaming, planning, and construction of an enhance Web presence for our affiliate. Our Web site was redesigned and includes a greater variety of content in various media concerning the
activities of our affiliate, and was recreated with our visitors in mind.
Please be patient with us while we continue to migrate content from our old Web site to our new and grately enlarged cyber home. We expect to complete migrating our local chapter and state division Web sites in the coming weeks and months. To acquaint visitors old and new take time to read our Web Site Road Map which will give you tips an tricks for getting around our new Web Site. Thanks for stopping by and come back often.
Menus
Visitors to the NFB’s national site will note that the site’s content has been organized in to information areas such as, “Members”, “About”, “Publications”, etc. This same scheme has been applied to the new NFB of Missouri Web site and will also be implamented in our local chapter and division Web sites when they’re migrated in to the new affiliate Web site. This approach was also taken to reduce the amount of, "Clutter" which tends to appear on the home page of many Web sites making for confusion, and difficulty in navigating the site's pages.
When you enter the site you will notice that the navigation has been enhanced to make locating site content much easier than it was on the old Web site. When examining the various Missouri chapter and division Web sites it was observed that some chapters sites included information that could be made available and accessible from any page on the new Web Site. These information categories appear in a site-wide menu located on the left side of your computer’s screen and is viewable no matter where you are in the site. If you’re looking up information in the new, “Governmental Affairs” area, and want to know about Meet-the-Blind Month Activities for the Kansas City Area, (For example),from the “Governmental Affairs” Pages you can select the, “Local Chapter and State Divisions” Link and locate the link to the, “Kansas City” Chapter’s site to bring up their site, and to locate their list of, “Meet-the-Blind Month” activities.
Now suppose you wish to go from the, “Kansas City” Site to access the 2007 NFB of Missouri State Convention Archive. With the new navigation this is a sinch. It’s a simple matter of selecting, “Conventions” from the menu on the Kansas City pages to access the,”Conventions” home page and then selecting the link to the, “2007 NFB of Missouri Convention Archive.”
Hedder Navigation
In addition to a navigation menue on all site pages we have made it easier to navigate documents displayed on individual pages through the use of hedders. By using the H, or the Shift+H keys in Internet Explorer you can move forward or backwards through the pages content quickly and without having to wait for the page to reload when, “Top of Page” links are used. Pressing Control+Home or Control+End allows you to quickly move to the top and the bottom of pages far quicker than using these links as the page must be reloaded and the cursor placed at the beginning of the desired page content.
Event Archives
All of the audio from the 2007 NFB of Missouri State Convention is available in the, “Conventions” Archive for online listening and downloading. You will be able to hear, and in some cases, read the text of major presentations given during the plenary sessions of the convention, or listen to the entire convention session. So if you’re only interested in hearing or reading the 2007 Presidential Report select the text, or audio link to allow you to access this convention item. On the other hand should you choose to listen to or download the entire Saturday Afternoon General Session you will be able to do that as well. The same is true of other audio and video content on the site.

A, “What’s New” section willl contain the latest information and announcements of NFB of Missouri events and activities and new site content.
