Welcome to our web site. We would like to begin by telling you a little bit about our organization. Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions:
Answer: The NFB of Jefferson City is a non-profit organization affiliated with the National Federation of the blind of Missouri and the National organization of the same name We are dedicated to promoting the general welfare of the blind through legislation, and our own activities.
Answer: According to our bylaws, a majority of our members must be blind. Members without visual impairment are more than welcome.
Answer: Blind, by the definition the NFB of Jefferson City uses, is "a visual impairment that even after correction adversely affects your daily life". Thus, even if you can see somewhat, you may be "blind", "visually impaired", or "legally blind".
Answer: While the organization cannot represent you or directly help you get your disability, (SSI, SSDI, or Blind Pension) many of our members have been through this process and can offer advice and support in your endeavors.

Our chapter meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month. They take place at the Coca-Cola Community Room located at 605 Washington Street in Jefferson City. The meetings are called to order at 7:00 pm and usually last approximately two hours. Visitors are always welcome.
